Message Hey guys, I know that this is an odd request to say the least, but here goes. I’m in the process of exporting a car to South America and have run into a problem. The vehicle is a 1977 Corvette and it arrived in Miami this morning via truck and will be heading out via cargo ship in approx 30 days. Before I shipped the car (from my house in Michigan) I noticed that it had a slight oil leak (a few drops here and there) but it didn’t seem too bad and I couldn’t tell exactly where it was coming from. There are ramps inside the shipping truck and thus the car was parked on a pretty severe incline during its ride to Miami. During this time the leak became much more apparent, with a significant amount of oil leaking out of what appears to be the rear main seal (I was told this by the truck driver whose info I trust is accurate). I would like to get this problem taken care of before it gets shipped to Brazil, but being over a 1000 miles away I’m not sure exactly what to do. Also, the people that have the car in Brazil (ATC Cargo) is merely a shipping company and thus they cannot assist me much in terms of a repair. I am wondering if anyone on here knows much about old Corvette’s like this and if someone wants to make a few $’s and fix this for me? About 9 months ago I had the car inspected at a specialty Corvette shop and they fixed quite a few things but I think that with it sitting over the Winter, the seal must have worsened and thus the bad leak. Anyways, if anyone on here could assist with this or even recommend a good shop (I would prefer a Corvette specialty shop) to fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it. The engine is the stock GM 350 small block and I’ve read that the rear main is a very common problem in these engines. All of this being said, if anyone wants to offer their services or can make some good recommendations, it would be appreciated more than I can verbally express. I am more than willing to compensate for help, as this vehicle is in very good condition and is being sent to a fairly wealthy fellow and thus I want to make sure that it is perfect when it arrives. Feel free to post or email me with any info/suggestions.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

PS....I just got my Z out of hibernation on Saturday and to feel that boost kick in for the first time in many months felt pretty damn exhilerating!! Hopefully I can get the Vette fixed and finish the transaction and then hopefully buy yet another Z with the proceeds!!! =)
