Message I need some input on some cheap replacement tires. Currently I run TT rears all around with some really cheap tires.

Rear Nexen N3000 245/45/16
Front No Name 225/50/16 (on TT rears 8.5")

The rears are fine and no issues with them, but the fronts have significant cracks and the driver's side tire is falling apart.

Tirerack sells the Kumho Ecsta AST in 245/50/16 for $79 per tire. Now I was hoping I could run 245/45/16 all around so I could bring the rears to the front and put the new tires purchased on the rear. Tirerack has Fuzion ZRi for $107 per tire in this size. Not many choices in this size. I could also go a bit cheaper and get 225/50/16 and get the Kumho Ecsta AST for $67. What would be the downfall of running 45 profile tires upfront, and what would you guys recommend?

At the moment I am roughly 200 miles away from 1000 miles break-in period for my engine. I would like to take my Z into Specialty Z to get it tuned and checked out to make sure everything is running in optimum performance. Also, I have other matters on the car that would need to be dealt with prior of spending $$$ on a good set of tires. I do not plan on doing any serious driving with the car yet.

I have nightmares about that happening...I'd be the poor bastard you'd hear about on the news that gets killed by a softball-size chunk while spreading out my body over the hood and screaming "Nooo!" (Having a conversation about hail damage) - BradZ (FL) on March 25, 2005 at 9:56 PM

Tell your friend that you could take a dump, light it on fire and that would be hotter shit than his car. Probes suck, that's just all there is to it. - 300ZXpert (someday) on April 04, 2005 at 11:35 PM

P.S. You REALLY are on here at ALL hours! And I thought I was bad! :) - zmenon on August 16, 2005 at 3:06 AM
