Let him do what he wants... It's his life and his money. Obvious thoughts about the subject have been stated. Let his parents worry/deal with him now. I will say this, though: Don't judge how people drive just by their age. Although, I agree the maturity level at that age isn't the best... I was the crazy 16 year old that would weave in traffic; sometimes coming inches from another car. Never had an accident till I was 20 (Hidden traffic light... Still my fault according to the state and I accepted that). He'll grow an appreciation for the car someday or other, hopefully not too late, and learn to slow down and enjoy the PRIVILEGE of driving.
