They don't need to be standardized because they aren't meant to be a form of competition. You're supposed to use the dyno while you mess with the tune to get as much horsepower as you can. Ultimately, it's for comparing a car to itself after changes are made... and if you do it all at the same dyno, why would it matter how any other dyno compares? Use it to track your car's performance and to get the most out of it... not to show it to someone and say "my car dynoed more horsepower than yours."
