Well I bought it because it was a good deal. I knew that all the parts were worth well over the $500 I paid. I bought it because I love these cars. I needed some misc parts for my TT and I had hope I could get her running. I did not buy it because I needed a beater or a DD. I just was asking everyones take on if the issues I mentioned in the OP were too great to invest a little more into the car. I know exactly how much of a headache these cars are. I paid my first mechanic $2500 to do injectors, he pinched an O-ring and insisted it wasn't anything he did. Needless to say he got my money and the car sat in my driveway, broken, for six months. $25,000 later I got it rebuilt and better then it was new. So yeah I'm very familiar with the headache these cars are if they aren't maintained. I didn't want another money pit, just seeing if it's worth a couple hundred to fix the obvious issues and drive it till the wheels fall off.
