Message Well...*cracking knuckles* ..... you want to know the "bad" things about the VG, aye??????

Okay, numbered by importance IMO.

1) Kinked plumbing done intentionally to lower power on the VG (proven).

2) Cast flash, primarliy in the rear #5 and #6 areas.

3) Oil pickup starvation from high G turns.

4) HICAS, was great for a traditional sports car application but the need to eliminate is became a necessity once the rear got squirly on high speed exiting.

5) Basic service, at a general level, for most people was an issue just due to complexity of the engine early on. This is what kept a lot of folks from really tearing into customization until late 1999-early 2000. Even then it was a snails pace until the last 4 years. Honestly, we should have been where we are now 4 years ago. Just saying.

6) Getting back to the motor. Soft valves in some of the early VG's sold in the US and a large portion of the Jspec motors sold up until 92 (can't remember exactly when they discovered it exactly.) But there was a large number of heads sold with soft valves that had seating issues due to it.

7) 90-93 lower plenum -> head air/fuel mix chamber. Always haded the 90-93 lower plenums as they always are never even. Casting was dog poop is a large majority of the motors I pulled apart. Almost always had to clean up a lower plenum for optimum fuel/air mix.

8) Det sensor location. Nuff said.

That's it off the top of my head for now.

Otherwise the VG30 is an amazing motor, IMO. I love everything about it even for it's "straight from the line" faults.
