I'm curious just how much stress is put on the spare tire well inside the trunk floor. Reason I ask is b/c I cut mine out to build a new floor to hold my air tank (variable ride height suspension), and my braille battery. I have already fabbed the new floor and compartments out of 1/8" wood, and am now ready to weld them up out of metal. I have both 1/8" steel sheet, and 1/8" aluminum sheet here in my garage however. If the trunk doesn't play much in the role of support for the Z's structure, I would prefer to use aluminum obviously for pretty decent weight savings. If it does play a large role though, then steel it is! Thanks everyone!
