our crop-able areas to capacity. The truth is that when the gov't started subsidizing corn farming, they even paid farmers to NOT grow anything on their land in case there was a need to grow corn. Looking into it, there were many fatcats/politicians who bought corn land dirt cheap because farming was paying so little it put farmers out of business. They picked up the land dirt cheap, passed some subsidies, then sat back with dried-up, untended lands raking in $. It's sickening, but trust me when I say, if we need more land to grow crops, we're set.
