Sometimes a good deal is too good to be true. posted by TBZ (NorCal) on December 10, 2010 at 11:05 AM |

Sounds similar to how I got my NA. It was on Craig list, supposedly in mint condition with under 90k miles and adult owned. When I drove up to the car it looked great; really nice new paint job, perfect body and 100% stock. The owner threw me the keys and it took it for a spin. Immediately I knew there were problems; it was missing, the auto Trans was slipping and there was a hole in the exhaust. He was asking 4K so I figured what the heck and asked if I could take it to a Nissan dealer for an inspection. He agreed and the dealer found like 7K worth of stuff that needed to be fixed. These were dealer prices + labor, mind you ;) So I offered 1k for the car as is, saying it needed tons of work, etc, and the seller agreed. I’ve had fun replacing stuff ever since and have only spent about 1k more. The moral of the story is as others have suggested, if a car is cheap enough, then it might be a steal.
