Message I'll assure you that when you get to suspension components, and even something as 'simple' as a motor mount, you will pay much more. It all depends on the complexity of your innovation. The longer, more unique your application, the more likely it is to be approved.

I'm not an IP lawyer, but I did start my career working @ USPTO.gov and have several IP lawyers as friends. I've known people who have obtained patents, and know people intimately involved in patent litigation. I assure you it is not cheap, but it does pay VERY well.
