Message And how convenient that he doesn't list his profession in his profile because I'm pretty sure the word "engineer" would not apply unless it was preceeded by the word "sanitation".

With respect to his first two examples all it will take is for someone to get a material spec wrong, or screw up a tolerance (or cheap out and cut corners on either one) and I can guarantee you that someone is going to have a crappy day when their engine leaks oil like a sieve or a motor mount fails. As already pointed out by Kuah and others, so much for that savings you reaped on those cheap knock-offs.

I won't begin to start on his sheepish acknowledgement about the challenges behind getting a manifold design right. Why bog down the argument with topics such as proper material selection, fluid dynamics and GD&T - those pesky details don't matter to 99% of the people....yeah right.

It's funny when presented with detailed facts, how fast people want to dismiss them and try to shift the focus of the attention elsewhere to avoid coming up with an intelligent rebuttal. I see enough of that in the news and politics, I don't want it getting into my hobby.
