the manifold and turbine housing have a lot of thermal mass. If you get them nice and hot, the heat can no longer escape through normal external convection/radiation, and it has to go somewhere. The trapped heat will conduct into your turbo CHRA and your cylinder head long after shutdown, which could potentially do some damage. This could be especially disastrous if the CHRA is not water cooled, as is the case with Mitsu and Billett turbos
