Additives? posted by Twindragon on November 22, 2010 at 10:11 AM

a '80 Volvo 240 and a few years later an '86 Volvo 760, I used prolong additive in both and BOTH experience the same issue which is the oil mysteriously evaporated. Both were cars that didn't experience any more than typical oil burn. I thought this was a fluke with the first which is what prompted me to to try on another car. Around the same time of owning the Volvo 760, a friend owned a Camaro Z28 and used prolong with his and experienced the same strange evaporation of oil. What I mean is checking the dipstick a month later to find practically no oil.
I never used additives since. The only switch in oil I could rationalize is using the "high mileage" synthetics for high mileage cars.
