Message This post has literally been almost 2 years in the making.

We all know that priorities change as time progresses. What once was your main focus one day might not night maintain the same priority the next, but passion remains the same. When I started my project on my 300zx I knew that it would be a cost and time demanding task, i just didn't know how much time.

Budgets get tight as you start expanding your hobbies and passions. Between photography and living on my own and work I found myself completely tapped out on time and funds. There was not a day that passed that i didn't think about being behind the wheel of my Z32, but my other loves in life took over as i started realizing potential.

Long story short, I drove my 300zx for the first day last Monday in almost 2 years, a direct result of the friends that I've made in this community. Without the members of this site and my local forums, my 300zx would still be a motor on a stand with a blown turbo and a rolling chassis, aside a box of miscellaneous parts.

There really are no words to define that day. I showed up at Eric's 300zx sanctuary prepared to fully seat my motor, bolt up my trans, and pray that it actually started. Instead, I was met with a question.

"Do you want the good news, or the bad news?"

Ok. Give me the bad.

"Your shocks were blown, I had to take them off another chassis"

Oh, ok, give me the good.

"It's done".

----------------------------

I couldn't compute this. All brain activity stalled for a moment.

The last time I saw my project, as I said before, it was a rolling chassis and a motor on a stand accompanied by random parts.

I walked RIGHT past my car, because it was the furthest thing from my mind that it was capable of rolling out of the garage under its own power. I popped the hood in disbelief to find a fully functional VG30DETT in my chassis.

Enter complete and utter disbelief. Being blown away is a dramatic understatement. I choked up.

I cannot express in words the gratitude, and appreciation, and respect I have for my friends that I've made in this community. Without which, I would not have driven my car.

Huge, huge , huge thanks to Ryan, Mark and Randy for your parts and shared knowledge and efforts getting my car on the road. Jon, Pat, and Jason for helping me piece together interior parts on a 300zx in a dilapidated garage and keeping my spirits up. Julius, for donating his time, his Xterra, and his encouragement to help me trailer back my chassis from Indiana and not give up on my project. To Johnny for being a co-conspirator and anyone else that bought parts from me or threw me some cash for taking photos of their car which helped fund this project, and all who offered encouragement.

And most of all- Eric "The Animal" Hammer aka spdrmn15. You, are a tricky mother f*cker. This man picked up both of my cars, brought them to his garage, and allowed me to store it there through the majority of this process. In which time, he manned pretty much all of the work where I left off with the help of the aforementioned. And then went above and beyond and completed it on his own.

I was going to go shoot 24 Hours of LeMons, but the prospect of having an opportunity to work on my car and potentially finish it took priority. Little did I know, Eric was devising a plan to deliver my finished car TO Autobahn Country Club while I was there shooting. He along with Ryan and others took it upon themselves to do what I honestly didn't have the time to. For this, I am extremely grateful.

Eric Hammer is a certified Animal. If any of you Chicagoland natives ever need someone reliable and capable to work on your Z32, he is without a doubt your guy.

This is what this hobby is all about.

PS Thanks guys for the kickass TEIN and Clutch Masters stickers on the fenders lol. They were fun to peel off hahahaha.
