It allows for a more aggressive tune because it doesn't burn as hot as the lower octane burns. It's got something to do w/ the EGTs that result from the combustion, higher AFRs, etc. Not the best explanation, I know, but basically more octane means more HP. That's why the dyno tunes on race fuel yield more HP than the runs on pump fuel (e.g., 91 octane). Someone else here can give a more scientific explanation, or you could always search. Lots of info on this topic in the archives. Get a dual pop tune and use the switch on the Selin. This way you can meter twice the air if you ever decide to build insane HP :)
