The "stuff" I was referring to is the fluid. 1st > 2nd will crunch unless I let the engine completely idle down before shifting. Doesn`t do it all the time,but most of the time. I Googled "1st to 2nd gear crunch" and it pulled up Subarus,Evo`s,BMW`s,Mazda RX-8`s,Z32`s,etc experiencing the very same problem. They all swear by the Shockproof Lightweight. Then you get the posters saying it`s a synchro killer,etc.
