The condition of the harness dictates your action. Mine wasn't all that bad, just crumbling split loom and some oxidation. I replaced the power and ground wires (THNN for oil and fuel resistant insulation), replaced the corroded lines (most of the corrosion is in the engine side of the harness, so running new wire from about a foot off the ECU will fix that), and relocated the PTU to the footwell. If "fragile" is a statement about the condition of your split loom tubing and connectors, then you're in about the same position I was in.
