So the last time I was on this forum was about 8 years ago but after selling my Z I pretty much walked away. I was in the market for a 2006 Porsche 997 but decided that since we are building a house at the moment and will have several projects (basement finishing, etc.) that I'll have to do so dropping a $15K down payment on a Porsche just doesn't make sense for a few more years. That said, I am completely sick of driving around this xterra(my winter vehicle before selling the BMW 3 series I had) and want an affordable sportscar that I would enjoy driving 25 miles to work and back every day. I was thinking back to how much I loved driving my Z around and decided that maybe I should look for another one :-) So, I'm looking around and finding that there just aren't that many in decent shape out there! I saw nasty, rusted out ones and some that were riced our or had crappy looking interiors...I found a couple of decent early 90's TT's but I was wondering about reliability at almost 20 years old. The irritating thing is that I am very picky about color so I'm holding out for a dark grey model with black leather interior. Now comes my questions :-)... Back when I had one before, NA-TT conversions were practically laughed at but now that seems to be a real option for 9K or so...Would it be more economically feasible to get a TT and have the motor/tranny rebuilt to reestablish a nice, reliable ride or to get a NA and put in a longblock built JDM motor/tranny from Z1? Also, do any of you have experience with tightening up the car to elimenate rattles, road noise, etc so that it feels like a newer car? I really look forward to your responses :-) BTW, anyone have pics of a nice gray Z with black wheels? ;-)
