| Took the Z to a local station for wheel balance and state inspection.... Simple enough, right? Went to pick it up and they failed my inspection on a worn upper control arm as a safety issue (?). Ok, so I took the car home and started looking for a used UCA so I can pass inspection within 90 days. The next morning, I drive away from my house and almost immediately hear a couple of clatters in the back of the car. Turn around to find my wheel weights lying on the road... Take it back the next morning and they say "already have 5 cars ahead of you, you'll have to wait about 2 hrs. We'll call you." HUH? But, instead of pressing the point on their mistake, I leave it and wait. 4 hrs later, I call and ask if it's ready. "Umm... Did you take off the wheel locks before you brought the car back?" "Yes, I took them off and replaced them with normal lugs so you didn't have to mess with them like you did yesterday." "Well, one is cross-threaded and we'll have to replace a stud." Again - HUH? I put those on by hand and tightened them, how could they have been cross-threaded? "Normal wear item, happens all the time." Again - HUH??? "Free of charge, I assume." "No, labor is free but you'll have to pay for parts." OK, now I'm getting pissed. "You guys messed up the threads because I KNOW I didn't, and you're making ME pay to have the stud replaced?" Here's where it gets fun. "We'll replace the stud, but please don't bring your car in for service here any more." I so bad want to just take it somewhere else for the stud replacement and Never go back there again. What is wrong with people not taking responsibility for mistakes - not having to wait for loose weights to be replaced, not paying for cross-threaded lugs - and making the customer feel like they're not welcome there anymore because they are dissatisfied with the quality of work done? I'm beginning to wonder if they thought I would give them the UCA replacement job and are being spiteful b/c I'd rather do the work myself...
