Two weeks ago I had the misfortune of hitting a 2x10 positioned on it's 2" edge.

I have quite a few products from Joe and think they're all wonderfully made. It wasn't til this recent event that I found out how fortunate I was to have one of his SS splash shields in place. When I had the 99/00 spec facia removed yesterday and saw the condition of the splash shield, I finally realized the seriousness of that impact. That splash shield crumpled up and curled up into itself. I checked the condition of my Z1 SMIC and it basically was completely protected. I firmly believe that had I been using the oem plastic splash shield, I would have sustained serious SMIC damage and probably even other complications. That SS splash shield's rigidity was the major contributer to allowing me to continue my drive home that late night.
A very big KUDOs to Joe for making such a strong and durable piece of work.
Let me also add that I had that SS shield bent back into it's origianl shape - well almost as it's quite evident it has seen better days. But again, amazing that that SS shield could withstand being nearly bent back into it's formal shape.
It had to be drilled in a couple of spots in the front to merry up with the oem (non 99/00 spec) facia I had on hand as it was designed specifically for the 99/00 spec. Again, my hat goes off to Joe as I'm still able and very willing to make sure this SS shield stays with the car.
