| Some of you guys need a huge cup of reality... Corruption? Favoritism? Conspiracy? BullShit! If any of you really want a convention near you, do what I did, invest some serious time finding out what it actually takes to put one on and developing knowledge of and relationships in the ZCCA. Add several months of scouting locations/venues and finding the controlling bodies of the scouted locations(you would be amazed at what renting the track at Hutchenson Island takes-9 different organizations have to be approve what you want to do, and how you are going to do it.), accumulate the costs and scheduling info, formalize and build your club up large enough to actually support a convention, Join the ZCCA($2/year per member) and present a bid! The best prepared bid gets the convention. (Period!) All of the club representatives in the ZCCA vote on the bids and select the winner-if you are a part of a club that is part of the ZCCA, you have a representative and that representative has a vote and can see and talk to the other representatives before and after the vote. The ZCCA is in the business of growing the Z hobby, representing the Clubs to Nissan and back, spreading information, and supporting hosting clubs. The ZCCA is not in the business of hosting conventions, 2010 was a special case because of the 40th anniversary of the Z, a call from Nissan and the lack of a local club.
If you want a ZCCA convention near you, formalize your club and get it in order, Join the ZCCA , and present a bid, it is that simple, but I absolutely recommend you volunteer at at least one convention first-there is sooo much you won't know you don't know.
