Message a couple weeks ago. He used:

- The tool to remove the windshield - a right-angled thing
- a big spade attachment on a reciprocating tool to get the bottom of the windshield out
- A razor blade to remove the black glue/goo from the installation of the removed windshield
- Some kind of cleaner after that
- A wire wheel to address the rust he found under the black goo from the last not-so-great replacement :-/
- Some sort of primer in a can that appeared a lot like the purple stuff you use to join PVC piping, to go over the rusty areas (it wasn't that stuff - it was black - but its metal can packaging and wadded-brush-thing-in-cap reminded me of it)
- A vacuum cleaner to remove the mess he made with the wire wheel and razor blade
- Black sealant/adhesive that he was very particular about being the right stuff, and the knowledge and experience to apply it correctly, the right amount, in the right place. He also used an automated caulk gun to apply it, which looked like it helped a lot.
- Then he placed the windshield in place and that was pretty much that.

Also, you may want to replace the plastic receiver strips that run along the windshield - he said if he'd known they were part of the process, he would have brought new ones because they're looking rather used and squished. These are the thin whitish grooves that receive the molding clips.

I was impressed with his care and knowledge. So far I'm happy with the windshield. After watching him and hearing all the stuff he knew, I wouldn't really want to do it myself, unless I knew someone in the business who would get me/tell me the right stuff to use. I saw the results of the previous installation and was not happy; I didn't even know the windshield had been replaced prior to this.

Good luck!

I was previously a aviation mechanic and avionic technician and this car is harder to work on than Aircraft.
