| a census worker (lol) is not an agent of law enforcement The only reason (assuming what you are saying is true about your wife not allowed to report anything to authorities) a census worker would be so restricted would have nothing to do with "reasonable suspicion" "probable cause" or "in plain sight", it would be because unfortunately in todays climate of government overreachings huge walls have to be erected in order to prevent censuses being used as tools of law enforcement. (You know, kinda like courts being used to legislate, government bureaucracies being used to legislate, etc etc). Precisely because the government is sending her for no legitimate reason to someone's house to knock on the door is why she would be instructed not to report anything she sees. That has nothing to do with law enforcement finding by pure chance, laws being broken when investigating something unrelated on the same subject. By your logic, th emillenium bomber should have been able to stroll right thru the US-Canada border with his explosives en-route to LAX, since his border crossing papers were in order. How stupid is that? Some of you people are too caught up in PROCESS, and are forgetting PURPOSE, one side tends to rely on things making sense and is results-oriented, the other doesn't take into account sense at all and is intent-oriented.
