Message Was it built as well as my Z? No.

Was it built better and with better materials than the car it replaced, my 1989 Mazda 323 GTX? YES.

I liked it tons more than my wife's 2000 Civic DX. But the SVT had 160hp (?) and a 6-sp, compared to the civic's 100hp and 5-sp.

A few weeks ago we rented a 2009 Scion Xb. Granted, it's a cheap econo box. New they are 18k, used 15k ish.

My wife LOVED it. Compared to her current ride, my '99 F150. It was easier to drive, fit easier in the garage, drank 1/2 the fuel, less blind spots, carries more inside than the F150, and the hatch was great for changing diapers.

I loved it. Compared to my '82 Diesel Isuzu P'Up. Had power steering, AC, a kick as stereo, and some "spunk".

The Scion tends to get beat by other boxes in comparison tests, but I haven't driven thoughs. So I can't tell how cheap it really is. The Element is supposed to be the better ride, but it's not a true 4 door so it's out of the question.

With all that said, we are probably going to look at used Highlanders. Cheaper than the Scion, and I have 2 major toyota mechanic hookups.
