Message	themselves upon the assumption that the VTC is on or off. The A/F ratio is a direct measurement and regardless of the camshafts being advanced or not, the ECU will do it's best to correct it. If your VTC are gummed up to the point of them not activating in a timely manner, I recommend flushing the oil system with a product aimed at removing built-up varnish.
