Message I would fabricate a flat peice of metal The two K&N filters

Just so that either filter doesn't fit each ofher for air.

You'd be amazed how much air (especially upgraded) turbos pull in.

I made an old video where I JUST got done putting my motor with my old turbo setup, GT28R. And I didn't even have a front bumper on the car. The Cecil County dragway is seriously ~3 miles away from my house. So I threw on a set up stock TT rears and some Toyo T1R's.. (its all I had that I didn't mind getting messed up)

Since I didnt have a front bumper on the car, The incomming "ram-air" flor from driving caused the car to spit and buck like crazy, since the Hot-wire type MAF's that we use are only designed to "suck in", not rammed in.

I had dual MAF's.. So since I only had less than 10mins before I had to be at the dragstrip.. I found 1 gallon ice cream pails that just fit over the filter. drove it like that and the bucking/ etc was done.

I am sure the buckets since it was just barely big enough to fit over my JWT blue filters that it caused a huge restriction.. but I didn't car.. I just wanted to go!.

I ran the Z around for about 15 more mins of idling, slight boosting, to "break-in" the turbos even though there really isn't a "standard breakin procedure required".

Then off to the track, 15psi, My friend was taking a vidoe of me in the burnout box and I was SO suprised how much air turbos pull in at 15psi. The "buckets" iI had over each fitler was COMPLETLY being suctioned around the filter as if I was "vacuum bagging" some vegatables.

I still however put down a 12.4@117mph with a horrible 2.2 60'.

This was just with a "stock/native" JWT 850cc, dual pop. No tuning at all. I set fuel pressure to stock specifications. I couldn't believe that I still pulled that off with the filters being basically "covered completely to where is was fully restricted".

So on my last 2 runs, I decied I would trim most of the bucket out of the way so that it couldn't "suction" to the filter and in hopes that I could do better.. Well, it turned out that I cut too much off and it allowed the air to be "rammed" through the MAF's .. causing the spitting and spuddering..

It killed my power.. Went from a 12.4@117mph (2.2 60') to a

12.7@106-107mph. 60' was 1.9'.

this showed, even with a better 60'. The car lost SOO much power.. I mean hell, 10mph lost in the top end?

But anyways.. back to my suggestion... I explained all that because I wanted to show how much different simple changes to the filters make. I would definitely make a "divider" plate to completely separate each filter from each other. I would use aluminum. Hell, if you wanted to go cheap.. buy those really cheap plastic, or thin sheet metal. Just so those filters than fight each other for the air being required from each turbo, do a "BEFORE/AFTER", Comparing the power/driveability/boost response<--spool up times etc) I am sure the turbos would spool a little easier if you separated each one so each side could be dedicated to its own filter.

NO, This picture is not photoshopped. It took many times to take this picture. Setting up the timer, shutter speed etc, then jumping on my bike and getting the tire to spin.
