Second best: Since the face is raised, it means the metal is cracked underneath. Fortunately, you dont need that part of the face to be perfectly flat, only the area around the drain hole. If it were me, I would open up the vertical crack with a small dremel cutting wheel, then you will have to see where else it is cracked horizontally. You might need to remove that chunk of metal, although it would be better just to epoxy the horizontal crack, then file down the face so its level. then drill out the hole to accomodate a helicoil insert and tap and insert the coil. Be very careful not to overtighten when re-installing. Good luck!
