Message	Camshafts - Yes, they must be removed. Does the head have to come off? Technically I think it can be done while they are on, but I find it much easier to work with them off. The trick to leaving the heads attached is pressurizing the specific cylinder you're working on so the valve doesn't fall. It's kind of a pita (IMO) to do it this way.
