| the tick is most likely worn or gummed up lifters compression measures the seal of your piston rings and valve seals which unless ur valves are bent it wouldnt make a difference and unless your numbers are low a leak down test woulnt be needed since its used to find the source of low compression as for the ticking i think theres a tech article on cleaning them or you can try seafoam or marvel mystery oil, ive heard of both helping sticky lifters
