In our defense, the radio had power the whole trip, just wouldn't make a sound - static, radio music, CD. If someone told me they thought that the noise from a battery outgassing sounded like radio static, I'd even laugh and call them an idiot. When the hatch window started fogging, we both figured it was something a little more involved. At least that's how I remember we realized it was the battery. I could be off on that. Regardless, I'd make that trip again in a heartbeat. I'd probably recommend the battery be strapped to the roof though. I actually laughed when I drove past the hotel when I first moved out here. Good times.
