Message	as I was only an onlooker; he was actually in the car. But as far as I know, it had the setup you described. I'm not sure what exactly caused the incident, but the battery was making noise and outgassing into the hatch area and therefore the cabin area. They were quite fried when they arrived, having thought the sound they'd been hearing was static on the radio and not aware that the battery had been trying to kill them for a while, if I recall correctly. You don't have to live in a bubble just because someone else caught the flu.
