Message You only need a locksmith or dealer if your current key is worn & rounded, because they cut the actual values into the blank.

Hardware stores' cutters follow the key you're copying, so if your current key is nice and sharp it'll work fine and take 2 minutes. Last time I went in with a blank Z key, and the guy didn't even charge me; said the cutting is included with the key and I didn't need one.
