The stock airguides are very short, if they are mounted on the tension rods directly instead of hanging down (like when mounted on the stock tension rods), they would not be really functional to catch airflow under the car. As for the cost of the airguides, the powdercoating alone costs almost $10 (done by a local company, I can show you the receipt), not to mention the CNC machining and bending. It may be $3 of aluminum material, but I assure you the finished product costs alot more to make.
