some way to check the person out, which is just as important as checking out the car. I've seen a wide range of cars and prices here in the time since you started looking. I would avoid buying from a dealer, but that does not mean never do it. I bought from a dealer because it was exactly the Z I wanted at the right price. I had the car checked out, then later discovered that the front shocks were bad. I approached the dealer who said "What front shocks". But overall, the buy was OK. I was lucky. Buying a used car always involves risk, and you are wise to try to minimize that. You said you are taking it to a shop, please make it a shop that knows Z32's. And as far as pricing goes, I suggest doing your own research. If you had kept track during the time you've been looking, you'd know about how much a given car is worth. Look here at history, at Autotrader (but know that thier prices are higher in general), and at local listings for your area. Make a log. Learn the Z32: weak points (4th gear grind, injectors), implications of repairs (one new injector, a new jdm engine), clues for finding problems ahead of time, etc. Then when your mechanic reports to you about a potential buy, you can make a decision right for you.
