To address your question, have you not ever heard car builders or enthusiasts say the phrase "matching numbers on all parts"? That means all the numbers on the car are the same which is more valuable than a frankenstein mobile slapped together with parts from all different year models and makes... Basically what he is saying is that this is the original engine, and to lots of people, that is a valuable statement.
