Anyone truly serious about getting into tracking their car will likely want to learn properly. It's been suggested to me by several very experienced instructors to start with an under powered, rear wheel drive toy. The lack of straight line speed will force your to realize the importance of carrying speed through the corners and driving smoothly.
The ridiculous amount of traction that AWD and computing power brings to a GT-R will make nearly everyone look relatively competent at the track. And to reiterate my original point, it will mask poor technique which would be much more prevalent a basic car.
