"Thankyou". We fight for one reason. My best veteran-buddy and I have directly opposite political views. We argue, with respect because is bond is more than our differences. To tell a vet why he fought or to tell him how to think is to not get it at all. When the uniform is on, and the gun is in hand, we are not political. As citizens, it's our job to question, to disagree, even to protest.
As soldiers, we only have one job, to fight.
We fight because we are soldiers.
