I have some paint damage to my Z... bugs, birds, and trees have taken their toll on the finish. Most of the damage is surface damage (though not all of it), so I took the Z to a body shop to find out if it was possible to buff the affected areas... I figured it could at least fix 90% of the damage at a fraction of the cost. The body shop said that "chemical" damage to a paint job is sometimes a claimable repair, so my insurance company might cover me to get a new paint job (though the body shop also said the insurance company might depreciate my vehicle slightly, which is not a big deal to me). I want to call the insurance company to see if they'll cover this, but I want to be armed with some knowledge. Does anyone know if this type of repair is typically covered by insurance companies? If so, what exactly would be included in "chemical" damage to the finish? Any information would be appreciated... hopefully I can get that showroom shine back without spending a fortune. Greg
