were filled with people running R888's who used to run RA-1's. Not a single person I talked to (at three different tracks) complained about the switch or said they preferred the RA-1's. The characteristics of the R-888's are different from the RA-1's and they had to adjust their style a bit, but overall found them more predictable and grippier in a variety of temperature and moisture conditions.
I ran an E-30 BMW at both Spokane County Raceway and Laguna Seca that was shod with R-888's, the car outgripped my abilities and my instructors had no complaints about the tires when they were piloting me around the tracks.
I also ran my set of R-888's on 3 different Zeds this year from autoX to full 2.5 mile high speed road courses (one day in the pouring rain) and have nothing but positive comments. Hell, I even flogged my mostly stock convertible around the local autoX and finished respectably. Nothing wrong with these tires.
