I think AVG is only used for backward compatibility with ECUs tuned for the dual POP single MAF design, where the K value inside the ECU is doubled for doubling the MAF reading. But the MAF reading limit is not really on the output voltage the saturates at 5V, but on its precision. After a given ariflow the response of the MAF becomes "flat", it means there is a very small change in the output voltage for a big change in air flow, so its precision decreses. The Selin solves this problem by making each MAF reading half the air flow, keeping the instrument in its good precision range. But the output of the MAFs can still be summed with "ADD" function, for higher power, still being within the 5V range. Consider that with stock injector (K=288) a MAF reading at full 5V would roughly correspond to a TP value of some 230, whilst the stock map covers up to 96
