Message with body roll. Body roll is reduced when frame flex is reduced. The shock tower brace causes the outside shock/springs to load quicker with the weight of the car, rather than the frame absorbing that weight through frame flex. So the whole car stays flatter in a turn. The understeer you noted is from the extra stiffness, similar to a sway bar.
