Or for the mouse over inclined: pump the brakes with the engine off, start the engine while holding pressure, and the pedal should fall slightly. BTW if you've ever had a leaking brake master cylinder, there's a good chance it's seeped fluid, corroding and destroying the seals in the brake booster.
