all the other parts add up (the speed & sound stuff isn't cheap, engine is about $3500, etc...) Oil Pump is $350, Water Pump $200, Timing Components $200, Cam gears - $350, New OEM R34 Valve cover set from Nissan Japan - $1100, yeah....that's right... I'm crazy enough to spend over $1000 on valve covers. (the 4pc set). Don't ask me why either...impulse buy. It's actually closer to $13k right now, but it doesn't take much to spend a fortune on this engine. If I did the RB25 swap, it'd be less than half the cost. Put "RB26" on something and instantly the price is double.
