I had the opportunity Saturday to do a free before and after dyno at SZ with Selin Design's new dual pop kit. Unfortunately we didn't get that far. Couple things to keep in mind: The current chip has a top speed of governor of a little over 100mph so can only rev to a little over 5k rpms in 4th, ambient air temp was in the upper 90s. So we put it on the dyno with the boost set to what usually is ~18psi. Greg lets off the first full because he hears a faint detonation. Boost spiked to like 19.5 and car only made 360hp and 400tq and was extremely lean. This is on the same chip that has been on the car since it was swapped! How the engine has lasted is beyond me because I know Ben's and my own driving habits. I have never heard any det but I usually have the stereo on and I never turn up the boost if it's hot out. For now the boost has been turned down to 12psi until it's tuned. To be honest though I haven't driven it at all out of paranoia. Even though it's lasted several years likes this...... I want to get a few upgrades before I tune it but don't have the funds for all right now. However the tune just can't wait so I have a few options. Check my profile for current mods. Ideally I would add the following before the tune3" expansion dps 3" to 2.5" tps Intercoolers (undecided on brand) Dual pop I just don't have the spare funds for all that and the tune now. What should I get before the tune and what can wait until after? Another option is I do have a parts car with 2.5" SZ tps and super splits. Is it worth the trouble to swap them over to my car or should I wait to go 3"? If I just swapped I could buy IC's and a dual pop. This seems like the sensible option. If I actually got my ass in gear and started to part out the car I bought almost a year ago instead of riding my dirtbike every weekend I could probably just buy everything I want. So these are the ideas that I have been kicking around for a couple days now and would just like some general input.
