: As I posted earlier, I just had a set of Toyo T1-S's put on my TT. These have a pretty radical tread design with massive angled ducts for water channeling. Should give booya grip in wet and dry conditions. Anywho, they're basically fresh out of the wrapper and I was curious if I should take it easy the first 100 miles or so to "break them in". I took a couple fairly hot turns on the way home and they actually felt a little squirrely. Is this normal and is there such a thing as breaking in new tires or am I smoking crack?
Street tires do not need heat cycling like R compound tires but you should still take it easy on new tires for the first 300-400 miles. They will be slippery until you wear off a little rubber from normal driving.
