Thanks for the help, guys. I was a bit confused because a guy down the street, who has owned a very nice 300ZXTT for quite a while and works on it all the time and who told me about this forum, looked over the car pretty thoroughly and said that was normal. I'm a newbie to 300ZX but not to cars. Been working on them for 35 years, including my current MR2 Turbo. I'll take another look tonight and see if the 2x4 and sledgehammer approach might work.
