current gas it's running - if no detonation, then running higher octane is a huge waste of money. It's pretty useless to generalize about a direct relationship of octane requirement to boost pressure only. The reason being is that no engine is the same with all the turbo/cam/piston/injector/intercooler/exhaust/ecu tuning/gear ratio combinations that are currently possible, one engine might get away with 25psi on pump premium while the another may only get to 15psi. Even similar combinations can have different octane needs based upon how the driver "drives".
