I am doing just fine, and could live without suffering for a good long time if I lost my job. Also, my credit choices probably give me a better FICO score than you, as you acknowledge. So, I pay less for car, life, and health insurance than you. I also will do better getting jobs that check your credit score before hiring you. Sucks, but FICO is important in life, and choosing your debt strategically will get you ahead. Your naive view of zero debt being best seems to serve you well, and it would serve many unsophisticated people better than attempting to follow my example and failing, so more power to you.
