CARS helps dealers sell new cars...at least the week it lasted (so far). That will have some immediate impact on the economy but I am not sure it will last. I think removing a ton of working, older, cheaper cars will have an impact on those with lower incomes. Less cars in the market could result in higher prices for used cars. I would prefer to see car companies go under if they can't maintain profitability. "American" car companies are using the Bush trick of making support for bad policies a measure of your patriotism. All the while, my Toyota truck is consistently more "American" than its domestic counterparts.
