and pistons are smaller, so if you were to upgrade your stock rotors to a larger diameter rotor while retaining the the stock caliper, you will achieve an improvement in braking from the leverage alone, but the caliper/brake pad contact area will not be clamping the whole rotor, which results in reduced heat distribution, loss of potential leverage, uneven wear of the rotor, and an overall loss of some of the effectiveness of going with a larger rotor. I guess what i'm trying to say is that not all 4 piston calipers are the same, as they come in different sizes.
